Folding Together

Community Events

We research through our community arts event exchanges. In each of four locations thus far, (Toronto, Canning, Welland, Halifax) we ask those who identify as a mother and/or perform the work of motherhood to join us in “Folding Together”.

We request that participants bring a towel to donate to our project, to add to our accumulated towels. We then guide participants through a simple score of folding and unfolding together. During this time, we share felt/embodied short stories, anecdotes, or memories in relation to motherhood/mothering in relationship to the themes we are developing (Care, Failure, Loss, and Potential) as part of our research for our performance. Child minding is always offered onsite. Refreshments are served following the events, and we offer a small gift in return for participation.

For those who have been unable to attend events, but would still like to contribute, please send your written story OR use an audio recording platform (example: voice memos) to send us an audio file via the contact link above.
