The Bank Art House

Welland, Ontario, Fall 2022

With support from The Bank and Dancemakers, in late November/early December 2022 we are in a technical residency at The Bank Art House in Welland, Ontario. We are joined by Lois Brown (Dramaturge), Joshua Van Tassel (Sound Designer) , Rebecca Picherak (Lighting Designer), and David Bobier who will be creating vibrotactile/assistive technologies through the VibraFusionLab. Our Costume Designer, Andrea Ritchie, will be with us in spirit and working from home in Halifax.

We are excited to host both our Folding Together Community Event and Movement Workshop (November 20 1-4pm) and our work-in-progress public showing (December 1 at 7pm)! Please see our upcoming events page for more details, registration, and tickets!

During our Folding Together Community Event from 1:00-2:30, we will guide participants/encourage participation in a simple movement score of folding together. During this score we will share stories, memories, and anecdotes about motherhood/mothering in relationship to loss and/or potential. We are interested in hearing/exchanging stories as part of the research for the This Body of Work Performance. Responses will be documented via audio and/or text and participants will have the choice to have their stories included as part of our project.

We will then teach a Movement Workshop for all movers from 2:45-4:00. We invite you to move with us and explore some gentle warm-ups and movement practices that we are working with from This Body of Work. You will leave with a small gift from us in return for your participation!

Stay tuned for more information about this time at The Bank At House and our upcoming performance on December 1!
